No sync across devices, no Mac app? Patrons? No thanks
This is not the award-winning version of this app that many people ALREADY PAID FOR. They ditched that version a year ago and have been struggling to make a notes app that actually makes sense. Now they are looking for patrons? After making it clear they will ignore their paying customers requests and instead tell you what you want from their app? No way, FiftyThree. This version misses the mark by a long shot. The UI is not intuitive, and many features that used to work quite smoothly are now glitchy or hard to find. The great art tools are still great, but Paper is trying too hard to be all things at once. I still miss the old version of this app. Now, it seems FiftyThree misses the enthusiastic user base they had for that version, who were willing to pay to support their work. Too bad.
The app is supposed to be universal, but it does not sync between iPhone and iPad, and there is no app for Mac. That makes it less than practical or useful as a notes app. You cannot switch to portrait mode on iPad, which is frustrating to say the least. The frequent tweaks and updates seem all about coming up with new names for notes and notebooks, and new configurations for menus, and not much else. Now they want "patrons", and soon enough they will ask for subscribers. This app is not worth paying a monthly fee for, at all.
